laavi vs Dubsado: Why Generic CRMs Don't Work for DJ Companies

Let's get this out of the way: Dubsado is a genuinely good product. It has a beautiful interface, strong contract and invoicing features, solid workflow automation, and it works exceptionally well for photographers, designers, and solopreneurs in the creative space.

Where Dubsado Breaks Down for DJ Companies

A DJ company isn't a photography studio. You're managing a team of performers, coordinating with venues, handling event-specific logistics that don't exist in other industries, and dealing with music planning that's unique to entertainment. Dubsado has no concept of any of this.

Here's the mismatch:

• No DJ or talent portal. Dubsado is a single-user CRM. Your DJs can't log in to see their schedule, track earnings, claim open bookings, request time off, upload a W9, or access training materials. You're stuck managing all DJ communication through email, group texts, or a separate tool entirely.
• No music selection tools. There's no way for clients to pick genres, select eras, build must-play and do-not-play lists, or search Spotify for specific songs. Music planning is the heart of what your clients care about, and Dubsado doesn't have any concept of it.
